Benefits of dry needling
Elite Physical Therapy & Performance is excited to offer dry needling to our patients here in North Idaho!
What is Dry Needling?
Our DPT Ryan uses thin filiform needles to stimulate trigger points, muscles, tendons and ligaments underneath the skin.
The needles are similar to acupuncture needles, but the method is completely different. Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese method and needle placement is said to restore a person’s “chi.” Dry needling reduces muscle tension, stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, and can increase blood flow, which promotes healing.
Why Should You Dry Needle?
Dry needling can help you feel better! That’s why we offer it. It’s grown in popularity over the past few years because it is a reliable, heavily researched treatment for pain and range-of-motion issues.
Clinical studies have shown that dry needling reduces pain and improves function. It has proven effective at treating a range of ailments, including spinal pain, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis and other tendon-related troubles.
It also eases spasms, muscle tenderness or tightness, and some muscle tension conditions. It helps control pain after trauma, sports-related injuries or nonsurgical interventions.
Dry needling also helps you heal more quickly! Studies show that when dry needling is added to your treatment plan, musculoskeletal function is restored much more quickly. Generally, patients can expect to see positive results after only 2-4 sessions.
What’s more? Because of its growing popularity, many insurances are covering the cost of dry needling! You can call us to see if your plan covers the treatment or take advantage of our affordable dry needling-specific cash rates.
