It’s Skiing and Snowboarding Season: Keep Yourself Injury Free!
North Idaho is packed with epic places to ski and snowboard. Whether you’re a fan of Silver Mountain, Schweitzer, or Lookout, we’re here to help you train or recover if you sustain an injury.
Staying fit is an important part of injury prevention. The most common ski and snowboard injuries we see are:
ACL/PCL Injuries
Wrist Fractures
Thumb Injuries
Rotator Cuff Sprains or Tears
Foot and Ankle Sprains
Though skiers are more susceptible to lower extremity injuries while snowboarders often experience upper body problems, both groups can avoid injury in two main ways: training in advance of the season and warming up before each outing.
Recommended pre-season training includes the usual warm up, strength training, cardio, and stretching with some balance work added in. Maintaining balance is such an integral part of both sports that balance-specific work will be an important part of your training.
We’d love to help you develop a training program specific to your body and your goals.
Wanna get started on your own? Some of the most beneficial movements are bodyweight exercises- squats, lunges, ski jumps & skater steps, planks and side planks, push-ups, back extensions, and superman.
